The Green Bay Packers’ season came to a crashing halt in Atlanta in the NFC Championship game. That’s what you know.

We’re going to pick apart that debacle one final time before forgetting about it completely. The great game we were promised never materialized. It never materialized for many reasons and that started with a crucial mistake before the opening kickoff.

It continued when the offense didn’t convert on their first two drives and then it was pretty much over, wasn’t it?

The Packers, as we’ve detailed, lost this game because their defense couldn’t stop the Falcons’ passing attack. That’s nothing new. The secondary has been the Packers’ weak link all season and it ultimately cost them, just like we said it would.

It wasn’t just personnel though. It was also scheme and coaching.

The question now becomes what happens to the secondary going into next season? The Packers’ No. 1 cornerback isn’t likely to return and they essentially have two No. 2 cornerbacks. What do you do with that? There simply isn’t an easy answer.

While we’re at it, we certainly need to discuss free agency. The Packers have a number of key players whose contracts are up. We’ll tell you who leads that list and how the Packers’ running back situation should shape up. Eddie Lacy is a free agent, but Ty Montgomery has established himself… we think.

It would be smart of the Packers to shore up that position and we’ll tell you how.

Finally, we can’t talk about a Packers’ season or a Mike McCarthy team without talking about injuries. It’s a recurring theme that must be addressed.

All that and so much more!
