The Green Bay Packers and specifically, your pal and mine, old Ginger Gap Tooth, have been pushing to have the NFL Draft in Green Bay.
That had always appeared to be a long shot to us simply because of the size of Green Bay. Recently, the draft has been held in New York, Philadelphia and Chicago. Obviously, all major cities.
However, we thought the NFL might throw the Packers a bone and give them what they wanted in 2019. The franchise will be 100 years old in 2019, so there will obviously be some celebration. The NFL has announced it will do no such thing.
On Thursday, the league announced the finalists to hold the 2019 and 2020 drafts. Green Bay was not among them.
The finalists for both years are as follows: Cleveland/Canton, Kansas City, Tennessee, Denver and Las Vegas. The final decision on where those drafts will be held will be announced in May during the spring meetings.
So I guess keep dreaming, Green Bay.
