Suuuuuuure he does.
The guy who wouldn’t let Brett Favre come back to the Green Bay Packers and ultimately traded him to the New York Jets, Ted Thompson, is loved by Favre.
Listen to this shit.
Favre was on a CBS Sports podcast this week and professed his love for Big Ted.
First, about Big Ted’s reduced role.
“I am surprised,” Favre said. “I think Ted Thompson has done a fantastic job in my opinion”
Second, about his relationship with Big Ted.
“Back in my beer-drinking days, there was a bar across the street from Lambeau. We would have a beer or two and shoot the bull. I really liked Ted. I don’t know why he stepped down, it’s none of my business, but I was surprised by that.”
So you guys would go to Kroll’s? Because I can’t think of any bar that’s across from Lambeau.
And just shoot the shit?
“Hey Ted, who do you think we’ll draft this year? Do you think I can play for the Vikings someday? Do you have a quarterback succession plan in place? Do I have to mentor that guy?”
I mean, look, Ted seems like a guy you’d totally want to have a beer with. Affable, great sense of humor, a real people person, life of the damn party!
Like if you were throwing a party and there was one person you could have there — you’d surely be like, “Ted Thompson!”
And we know Brett went out regularly in Green Bay and did stupid shit — I have a story about him throwing a shot glass at a Packers’ mirror after a loss I have yet to reveal, but Brett and Ted having beers at Kroll’s back in the day, I would need photographic proof to confirm this shit.
