The Green Bay Packers have no Pro Bowlers, even though they deserve at least one in left tackle David Bakhtiari, who is or is close to the best left tackle in the league.
Two guys the Packers let walk will be there though. Two defensive backs, which was the team’s worst position in 2017, in fact.
Those guys are Casey Hayward, who the Packers didn’t even offer a contract to in 2016, and safety Micah Hyde, which the same happened to this year.
The Packers didn’t have room for Hayward, with Damarious Randall, Quinten Rollins, etc., etc. But he went to San Diego and has developed into one of the best corners in the league. And he’s done it as an outside guy, which we and the Packers didn’t think was possible.
Hyde went to Buffalo and they let him play safety. That’s something the Packers never would have let him do, despite diminishing returns from Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Hyde has flourished in his role in Buffalo.
Hyde has five picks. Hayward has four. The Packers’ leader is Damarious Randall with four. Clinton-Dix has three.
We made the case that Hyde should have replaced Clinton-Dix earlier in the season, but that was never going to happen, regardless of talent. The Packers stick by their draft picks — especially first-rounders — without fail. Because why would they want to be wrong?
At any rate…
Super happy for my brother @micah_hyde I'm proud of you bro. I guess we will be teammates once again lol. I'm glad you get to show your true skills with the Bills. love you bro.
