How many offensive linemen do the Green Bay Packers need? As many as they can get, apparently. Tackle/guard Adam Pankey was promoted from the practice squad to take defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois’ roster spot.
Francois was released on Tuesday.
Pankey is an undrafted rookie from West Virginia. He’s the 10th offensive lineman on the Packers’ roster.
There are injury concerns about a couple of guys going into week 2. Right tackle Bryan Bulaga didn’t play in week 1 because of an ankle injury. Backup tackle Jason Spriggs hurt his hamstring — something he called a tweak — on an extra point against Seattle.
If those injuries remain in week 2, Pankey would in theory be the backup to David Bakhtiari and Kyle Murphy.
Yikes!
Let’s not think about that just yet, though.
