Jerel Worthy – DT, 6’2”, 308, 2012 Rd. 2 (51st overall), Michigan State
Opinions varied widely on this massive guy. Some thought he was a first rounder, while others had him going in round four or five. Worthy finished his college career at Michigan State with a host of honors, including: consensus first-team All-American and All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media.
There were, however, concerns that he was inconsistent and that his college reputation was better than his actual production. Worthy only managed 3.5 sacks in his senior year. The Packers traded up from the 59th pick in order to draft him.
In two seasons with the Packers, he started four games, but contributed only 14 tackles and 2.5 sacks. After being traded to the Patriots and never playing a game there, Worthy has been with Buffalo for the last two years, but in that time he’s totaled only 11 tackles and no sacks. He is currently listed on the Bills’ depth chart as a backup defensive end.
