We use the term might because you never know what the Green Bay Packers are going to do with Jeff Janis. They may just let him sit on the sidelines and rot like they did last year.
That said, if the Packers want another offensive weapon, they’ll have one in Janis pretty soon. Janis will have the club removed from his broken hand after the week 4 bye. Then the question becomes will the Packers give him some snaps at receiver?
If I had to guess, I’d say it’s doubtful.
If you’ve noticed, in the first two games, the Packers really only give offensive snaps to three receivers — Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams. So despite keeping seven receivers on the roster, really only three of them get any real playing time.
Jared Abbrederis has played just 20 offensive snaps in two weeks. Ty Montgomery has just 11 and got zero offensive snaps in week 2. Making his debut in week 2, was rookie Trevor Davis and he had just five snaps.
So you can see, even when other receivers are healthy, they don’t get to play anyway. We’re not sure why Janis would be any different, especially after watching him sit around all last season.
