[tps_title]Fifth Round[/tps_title]
Corey Linsley (2014)
There’s no doubt Thompson’s best fifth-round picks to date came in back-to-back drafts. He grabbed defensive back Micah Hyde in the fifth round in 2013.
That made this a tough call. Hyde has been a big contributor for the Packers since being drafted, both on defense and in the return game. However, we’re giving Linsley the nod (barely) because he’s been a starter at center since day one.
Other than these two and possibly quarterback Brett Hundley (2015), the fifth round is littered with bums. Here are some: Terrell Manning, D.J. Williams, Marshall Newhouse, Quinn Johnson, Jamon Meredith, Breno Giacomini, David Clowney, Ingle Martin, Mike Hawkins and Junius Conston.
It’s a good thing Thompson’s fortunes have turned.
