Every year during Super Bowl week, someone goes and digs Brett Favre out of moth balls. Today, that someone was Fox Sports 1, which had old Farvelous on to talk about FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL!
The most interesting thing this old codger had to say was that he doesn’t think Aaron Rodgers deserves the MVP this year. That wasn’t so much a slight at Rodgers, who Favre praised as the best quarterback in the game, as it was a nod to Dreamboat.
“If you look at the combination of the whole package, I would say Aaron by far is the best,” Favre said.
“Now, that being said, Tom Brady I think should’ve been the MVP this year just based on how well he played considering the circumstances. I look at it not so much from a stats standpoint, but what you had to overcome and do throughout the year. I think Tom, of all his years, this is probably the year most people would’ve said, he shouldn’t have been here. In fact, early in the season as you guys know, they were ready to send him off.”
Interesting take and a good point.
Tom Brady gets it done — and got it done again this year — with Gronk and a cast of bozos. His offensive teammates were perhaps even more clownish this year than in most. If memory serves, Brandon LaFell is the Patriots’ No. 1 receiver.
Think about that for a minute…
And, of course, now that we’ve entertained the notion of Dreamboat’s greatness, we’re going to tell you that Rodgers is going to win the MVP. It probably won’t even be close.
Who finishes in second place — Brady, Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray or J.J. Watt — appears to be the only thing in question.
