Our favorite Detroit Lions screw-up is no more. The Leos cut receiver Titus Young on Monday, which was the first day teams could release players since their season ended.
Although he was a second-round pick, Young created a list of stupid decisions even Matt Millen could admire. And he did it in only two seasons.
Here are some of them.
Young sucker punched teammate Louis Delmas last offseason, setting the tone for both himself and the Lions’ 2012 campaign.
In a game against the Packers, Young purposefully lined up in the wrong spot and was accused of sabotaging plays. He was sent home and suspended for a week.
That message didn’t get through to Young and he was eventually placed on injured reserve, although he wasn’t really injured.
After the season, Young went on a Twitter rant essentially begging the Lions to release him and taking no accountability for his actions.
What’s most impressive is Young managed to be the biggest fuck up on a team that included a guy who got arrested for marijuana possession and the cops found him trying to eat his bag of weed when they pulled him over.
So now what happens to this turd?
Young goes through the waiver process and any team can put a claim in on him. Why anyone would want to is the question.
Young’s salary is only $550,000 for 2013 and his bonuses are minimal, so some team may take a chance on him. If no one does, he’ll become a free agent.
Our guess is he won’t be back in the NFL anytime soon.
