“What’s your deal?” was the question USC coach Pete Carroll asked then-Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh during their post-game encounter in 2009. For good reason. Stanford pounded SC in that game 55-21. Nonetheless, Harbaugh decided to go for two late in the game. His reasons are undocumented, but anyone who lives on the west coast can tell you he did it because he wanted to send a message to USC. In the process, he also sent the message that “I’m a total prick and sportsmanship be damned.”
