Although nothing is official as of this moment, the Green Bay Packers will reportedly place running back James Starks on injured reserve.
To shore up their injury-depleted backfield, the team has signed Ryan Grant, according to ESPN Milwaukee.
Update: The Packers have placed running back Johnny White on IR and as of this moment, James Starks is still on the active roster.
Can the Packers be any more injury-prone this season? Starks hurt his knee in the fourth quarter of the Packers win on Sunday. Somehow, he finished the game and even carried the ball three times after he was injured.
The Packers worked out Grant, who played for the team from 2007-11, Tuesday night. He wasn’t re-signed after the 2011 season. In fact, the Packers showed zero interest in bringing him back. Grant had a brief stint with Washington this season.
He gained 559 yards rushing for the Packers in 2011 and gained more than 1,200 yards in both 2008 and 2009.
Starks had 255 yards rushing for the Packers this season and was their leading rusher in 2011, with 578 yards. He’ll join running backs Cedric Benson and Brandon Saine on injured reserve.
In addition to Grant, the Packers backfield will consist of Alex Green, John Kuhn and DuJuan Harris.
