That would be a headline in and of itself because, let’s face it, most of the things that come out of Cincinnati Bengals receiver Terrell Owens’ mouth either aren’t too bright or aren’t worth listening to.
That alone wouldn’t get Owens a mention on this blog, however. No, Owens would either have to say something about the Green Bay Packers or one of those douchebags over in Minnesota.
In this case, he said something about the biggest douchebag in the history of douchery — Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre — and it’s not only intelligent, but similar to the refrain we’ve been repeating for years. That being, that Favre is a selfish prick and held to a different standard than everyone else.
“Had it been one of us doing some of the same things, pulling these stunts that Brett Favre has done the last two or three years, then we would be labeled ‘not a team player,’ ‘selfish,’ and these are times where you want your guys to be in camp, bonding with your teammates, learning the plays, going through the whole team concept just like everybody else,” Owens said. “And now it’s like, yeah, he’s set himself above team standards.”
Owens is referring to himself and teammate Chad Ochocinco and, as I said before, he’s right. Brett Favre is held to a different standard.
We’ve never really understood why.
Perhaps Favre’s idiotic country bumpkin charm just has everyone in the media fooled. Hopefully, this will be the last year we’ll have to deal with it, though.
