Packers Throw Out First Pitch, Brewers Immediately Sign Them

Packers first pitch

Twelve members of the world champion Green Bay Packers were on hand for the Milwaukee Brewers home opener Monday afternoon to throw out the first pitch… er, pitches. I’m only kidding about the Brewers signing anyone, but hell, none of the Packers have anything to do during the damn lockout and the Brewers supposedly vaunted [...]

Goodbye, Atari Bigby

Atari Bigby

Buried at the bottom of an article in which Bob McGinn tries his best to create a not-enough-balls controversy amongst the Green Bay Packers receivers was this nugget: safety Atari Bigby won’t be back.

No, no one’s said those exact words. No, it isn’t a surprise the Packers would choose younger players to replace an oft-injured veteran who’s about to hit free agency.

Apparently Everyone Needs To Be Told: Asomugha Is A Long Shot

Nnamdi Asomugha

Personally, I thought we made it pretty clear. Soon-to-be-former Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha isn’t likely to sign with the Green Bay Packers, even though he’s expressed an interest in rejoining former teammate Charles Woodson.

Sure, it’s a wonderful thought, pairing Asomugha with Tramon Williams and moving Woodson to free safety. Asomugha, Williams, Woodson and Nick Collins — three All Pros and one in the making.

Packers Have Three All-Pros

Clay Matthews

Three members of the Green Bay Packers were named to the All-Pro team. Clay Matthews made the first team and Charles Woodson and Nick Collins made second team. The full squad is as follows. Offense QB: Tom Brady, New England RB: Jamaal Charles, Kansas City; Arian Foster, Houston FB: Vonta Leach, Houston TE: Jason Witten, [...]

Asomugha Reportedly Wants To Come To Green Bay

Nnamdi Asomugha

We didn’t pay much attention to the fact Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha became a free agent after his contract voided, earlier this week. The Green Bay Packers already have two Pro Bowl-caliber cornerbacks in Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams. They don’t really need another. However, there are reports Asomugha is interested in playing for [...]

Five Packers Make Pro Bowl; Rodgers Not One Of Them

Greg Jennings

Five members of the Green Bay Packers made the Pro Bowl. Despite appearing in the NFL’s Pro Bowl ad, quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not one of them. The Packers who will make the trip to Hawaii are receiver Greg Jennings, tackle Chad Clifton, linebacker Clay Matthews, cornerback Charles Woodson and safety Nick Collins. Collins, Woodson [...]

Nick Collins is $50,000 Poorer

Nick Collins

We knew Green Bay Packers safety Nick Collins was going to be fined for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Dallas Cowboys receiver Roy Williams, Sunday night. The NFL was swift in enacting justice, saddling Collins with a $50,000 fine, today. The fine is high for a first-time offender like Collins, but the blow was just the [...]

The Hits Keep Coming: Tauscher Injury Could Be Serious

Mark Tauscher

We may all look back at the end of the season and note the Green Bay Packers week four game with the Detroit Lions as the point where it all went to shit. The Packers have lost one starter for the season, safety Morgan Burnett. They are on the verge of losing another in linebacker [...]

Nick Collins “Not Optimistic” About Knee

Nick Collins

Add safety Nick Collins to the Green Bay Packers growing list of injury concerns. Collins missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee strain and said he’s not optimistic about playing against the Redskins on Sunday, according to Kareem Copeland. “I’m doing the best I can to get ready for Sunday,” Collins said. “Just trying to strengthen [...]

This About Sums It Up

The following video sums up what most of us were feeling as the Green Bay Packers fell to the Chicago Bears, Monday night. The agony and the ecstasy may be an appropriate title, although switching it around is probably more accurate. I can’t really see what was going on in the game, but my guess [...]

Classy As Always, Chicago

Nick Collins

There’s a reason I hate that inbred species known as the Minnesota Vikings fan more than I do the Chicago Bears fan. It’s because the former is a completely ignorant amalgamation of failure and filth that they pollute the gene pool and make us all worse off. The latter beast is usually docile and like [...]

Packers Veterans Who May Be In Trouble

Quinn Johnson

At the end of every summer, the Green Bay Packers end up cutting a couple veteran players whose release comes as a surprise. Last year, it was receiver Ruvell Martin and safety Anthony Smith. Here’s a list of several players who could potentially be on that list this year. Justin Harrell, defensive tackle — The [...]

Are The Packers Full Of Themselves?

Charles Woodson

Do the Green Bay Packers need an ego check? It’s an interesting question and one that bears some discussion after Nick Barnett made his Super Bowl or die proclamation last week. Certainly, both fans and coaches want their players to believe in themselves. Confidence is important, but overconfidence can be a major obstacle towards achieving [...]

Collins: We Want No. 1 Defense

Nick Collins

Green Bay Packers’ safety Nick Collins made no bones about it. The Packers want to have the NFL’s No. 1 defense in 2010. “We want to be the No. 1 overall defense,” Collins said. “We want everybody to talk about us, not talk about what we could be.” That might be tough for a number [...]

Expect Matthews To Rush From Just About Everywhere

Clay Matthews

It’s become apparent that Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews will be coming at quarterbacks from places other than just his customary spot at right outside linebacker. Matthews rushed the quarterback from the inside linebacker position several times during minicamp, a move that appears to be part of the evolution of Dom Capers’ defense [...]

Atari Bigby May Hold Out

Atari Bigby

Green Bay Packers’ safety Atari Bigby, one of the team’s three unsigned restricted free agents, appears to be the most likely to hold out, according to Greg Bedard, via Cheesehead TV. Two sources said he had designs on staying away to get a contract extension, perhaps even into training camp after signing his tender. But [...]

Packers Will Add Several Sixth Rounders, And Other Fun Stats

Ted Thompson

One thing you can bet on when you’re watching the Green Bay Packers’ draft unfold under the mastermind that is Ted Thompson, is that Thompson will come out with more picks than he went in with. In Thompson’s five drafts with the Packers, he’s traded back to pick up additional picks in each year except [...]

Packers Sign Nick Collins, Ryan Pickett

Ryan Pickett

By Green Bay Packers’ standards, the team has been active during free agency. They haven’t signed a player from another team, but they’ve now signed three of their own players after inking safety Nick Collins and nose tackle Ryan Pickett today. There are conflicting reports on Collins’ contract. Per Pete Dougherty, Collins received a four-year [...]

Nick Collins Ready To Play Ball

Nick Collins

Unlike last year, when he didn’t participate in any of the Green Bay Packers’ OTAs because he wanted a new contract, safety Nick Collins has decided to take a different approach despite his status as a restricted free agent. On Tuesday, Collins signed his $3.3 million tenure and took himself off the free agent market. [...]

Day Two Free Agency Update

Aaron Kampman

Although it will be quieter today than it was yesterday, we’ll again keep running updates throughout the day with the latest news at the top of the page. Check out the day one free agent rundown here. ———- OK, the Aaron Kampman saga continues to get weirder. The Eagles have refuted the report below that [...]
