Marshall Newhouse Draws Praise, Likely To Remain Starter

Marshall Newhouse

Tackle Marshall Newhouse drew praise for his play after stepping in for the injured Bryan Bulaga on Sunday. It’s a good thing he played well because the Green Bay Packers will need him. Bulaga is likely to be out for a couple weeks.

Training Camp Observations 8-29, Full Pads

The Green Bay Packers held their final open training camp practice in full pads Monday. We got a long look at Matt Flynn, the offensive line looked better and Morgan Burnett and Davon House were making plays.

We’re back at Green Bay Packers training camp, where Jermichael Finley and Jordy Nelson are killing it, several injured players have returned to action and Vic So’oto has made a move up the depth chart.

Who Made It To Packers Offensive Line Workouts?

Bryan Bulaga

As we told you last week, the Green Bay Packers offensive linemen worked out together near Nashville for three days this week. Tackle Chad Clifton and center Scott Wells, who organized the get together, live in the area. What we didn’t know until today, is who actually showed up.

Newhouse To IR, Dietrich-Smith Back

Marshall Newhouse

The Green Bay Packers put rookie guard Marshall Newhouse on injured reserve and re-signed guard/center Evan Dietrich-Smith. Although no one in Green Bay appears to be able to stay healthy, losing Newhouse, who has a back injury, isn’t much of a blow. He’s been a game-day inactive all season. Dietrich-Smith played in 13 games for [...]

Observations From Packers 17-13 Loss To Chiefs

Arrowhead Stadium

The Green Bay Packers fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 17-13, Thursday night in their preseason finale. The game wasn’t easy to watch. The starters played only one series and veterans Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Grant, Donald Driver, Chad Clifton and Charles Woodson were healthy scratches. There were some interesting developments in the game, however, and [...]

Packers Veterans Who May Be In Trouble

Quinn Johnson

At the end of every summer, the Green Bay Packers end up cutting a couple veteran players whose release comes as a surprise. Last year, it was receiver Ruvell Martin and safety Anthony Smith. Here’s a list of several players who could potentially be on that list this year. Justin Harrell, defensive tackle — The [...]

Packers Begin To Sign Draft Picks

The Green Bay Packers have announced the signing of three draft picks. The picks are the Packers final three, seventh-rounder C.J. Wilson, a defensive end from East Carolina; sixth-rounder James Starks, a running back from Buffalo; and fifth-rounder Marshall Newhouse, a guard/tackle from TCU. According to Brian McIntyre, terms of the contracts are as follows. [...]

Aaron Rodgers Played With Substantial Injuries

Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers admitted to WTMJ Radio that he played the 2009 season with substantial injuries. Rodgers appeared on the Packers’ injury report five times during the season, being listed as probable each time, which doesn’t equate to substantial injuries in football terms. However, team’s often play fast and loose with their [...]

Newhouse Could Spell The End For Colledge Or Spitz

Marshall Newhouse

I can’t say I was overly impressed with the selection of TCU’s Marshall Newhouse, who the Green Bay Packers selected with their second fifth-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Newhouse played left tackle in college, but projects as a guard in the NFL. With Josh Sitton entrenched at right guard, Jason Spitz and Daryn [...]

Packers Add Tight End, Guard In The Fifth Round

Andrew Quarless

The Green Bay Packers defied logic again in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. Packers’ GM Ted Thompson chose Penn State tight end Andrew Quarless with the team’s first fifth-round pick (No. 154), even though the team is solid, one-though-three, on the tight end depth chart with Jermichael Finley, Donald Lee and Spencer Havner. [...]
