Aaron Rodgers On Ellen

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers became the second member of the Green Bay Packers to appear on the Ellen Degeneres Show since the team won Super Bowl XLV.

Clay Matthews joined Ellen two weeks ago.

Draft Needs Start With Linebacker, Offensive Line

Clay Matthews

The Green Bay Packers will go into this year’s NFL Draft with a roster that doesn’t have a lot of holes.

The team could use upgrades in two key areas, though. The Packers still don’t have a pass-rush threat at linebacker opposite Clay Matthews and could also use help along the offensive line.

Woodson Supports Wisconsin Workers

Charles Woodson

Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson released a statement in support of Wisconsin workers over the weekend. Here it is in its entirety. Last week I was proud when many of my current and former teammates announced their support for the working families fighting for their rights in Wisconsin. Today I am honored to join [...]

Dave Duerson Committed Suicide

Dave Duerson

When I heard former Chicago Bears safety Dave Duerson died on Thursday, I didn’t pay much attention.

People die every day.

Things changed on Saturday, however, when it was revealed Duerson committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest.

Jarrett Bush Is An Asset

Jarrett Bush

Those are five words I never thought I’d write, but Jarrett Bush was actually an asset for the Green Bay Packers during the 2010 season.

No, he’s not an All Pro in the making, but the Packers faith in Bush, which often seemed misplaced, finally paid off. The idiotic penalties disappeared, Bush finally developed into a serviceable NFL cornerback and became one of the team’s best special teams players.

Is Matthews A Liability Against The Run?

Clay Matthews

I don’t think anyone can argue that Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews is one of the best defensive players in the league.

He’s one of the NFL’s top pass rushers, he can completely disrupt opposing offenses and he has to be game planned for. That being said, he’s not the greatest run-stuffing linebacker, even on his own team.

Woodson: Favre Had Numerous Opportunities To Reach Out

Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre

Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson was on Jim Rome’s show today and, of course, Brett Favre somehow managed to work his way into the conversation.

Rome asked Woodson about Favre’s relationship with Aaron Rodgers — Rodgers reportedly still harbors some bitterness toward Favre — and about the possibility of Favre reaching out to his former understudy.

James Starks: Arian Foster Or Timmy Smith?

James Starks

I’m not suggesting Green Bay Packers running back James Starks is going to turn into the Houston Texans Arian Foster next season, but this is a comparison of two opposites.

I chose Foster, the NFL’s leading rusher in 2010, and Smith, who rushed for a record 204 yards in Super Bowl XXII as a member of the Washington Redskins, because they both came out of nowhere, much like Starks.

Check Out This Crazy Italian Bastard…

Giovanni Bartocci

Someone brought Giovanni Bartocci’s story to my attention last week. It disappeared into the ether until I was digging through my email last night and I laughed to myself, “Oh yeah, that crazy bastard.” Bartocci is a Green Bay Packers fan. He’s also one of those guys. There’s something not quite right about him, but [...]

They’re Despondent In Chicago

Jay Cutler

2010 was a good season for the Chicago Bears — they won the NFC North, they made it to the NFC Championship game, and… yeah, well, they lost to a hated division rival with the Super Bowl on the line.

That’s gotta leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Packers Control The World For A Minute

The Green Bay Packers got to control the world for a minute.

At least that was Charles Woodson’s assessment of what it meant to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange, which Woodson, teammates John Kuhn, Ryan Grant and Packers president Mark Murphy did, yesterday.

Someone Really Smart Knows The Packers Will Not Repeat

Rex Ryan

That’s right, Rex Ryan, coach of the New York Jets, former Total Packers Cunt of the Week, foot aficionado and generally the smartest guys in the room (just ask him!) is saying the Green Bay Packers will not repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Well, he didn’t exactly say that, but he said it by default when he guaranteed a Jets win in Super Bowl XLVI while sitting courtside at a Knicks game over the weekend.

Rodgers Partied With Pauly D In Las Vegas

Aaron Rodgers, Barry S. Dakake and Matt Wilhelm

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was making the rounds in Vegas over the weekend and he wasn’t shy about it.

Rodgers, who was joined by Packers linebacker Matt Wilhelm, caught Terry Fator’s show at The Mirage, stopped by N9NE Steakhouse in the Palms and then went upstairs to Moon, where he joined Jersey Shore’s Pauly D in the VIP area.

McCarthy Will Get Three-Year Extension

Mike McCarthy

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy will get a three-year contract extension paying him an average of $5 million per year, according to Bob McGinn.

The finishing touches haven’t been put on the deal yet, but that seems like a formality at this point. The Packers announced general manager Ted Thompson’s three-year contract extension last week — a deal he signed in December.

Where Is Matt Flynn Most Valuable To The Packers?

Matt Flynn

Backup quarterback Matt Flynn made his first start for the Green Bay Packers in week 15′s 31-27 loss to the New England Patriots.

Despite the loss, Flynn looked impressive, throwing for 251 yards and three touchdowns while completing 65 percent of his passes.

Packers Have To Make A Decision On Hawk Soon

A.J. Hawk

The Green Bay Packers have to make a decision on linebacker A.J. Hawk at some point this offseason.

Hawk is guaranteed $10 million for the 2011 season under his current contract. That’s an amount the Packers have no intention of paying.

Bitterness Remains Between Rodgers And Favre

Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre

Although both guys say the appropriate things publicly, there isn’t a real relationship between Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the guy he succeeded, Brett Favre, and there may never be.

Rodgers is still at least somewhat bitter over the way Favre treated him when they were teammates and rightfully so.

Packers At Bottom Of Special Teams Rankings Again

Shawn Slocum

The Green Bay Packers are near the bottom of the Dallas Morning News’ annual special teams rankings for the third year in a row. They finished 29th, up two spots from last season. The 2008 team finished 26th and special teams coach Mike Stock was forced into retirement after that performance. The rankings are compiled [...]

James Jones Could Be In Demand In Free Agency

James Jones

Green Bay Packers receiver James Jones is likely to have some suitors once free agency begins, providing the new collective bargaining agreement allows him to become a free agent as expected.

Jones’ name has already been mentioned in Cleveland, where the Browns have one of the worst receiving corps in the league.

Clay Matthews At The Grammys

If you’re like me you probably gave two shits about the Grammy Awards and didn’t watch them.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews was one of the presenters and got to say about two words when he and Glee’s Lea Michele introduced Lady Antebellum’s performance.
