Why are Green Bay Packers fans the best in the NFL? Because of shit like this. Suffering from Hepatitis C, the 55-year-old Chicago resident would have died had he not received a liver transplant at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison on March 14, 2010. [Peter] Cashman later discovered that the donor was Amy […]
A lot of people seem to think the Green Bay Packers have a hole to fill on their defensive line, with defensive end Cullen Jenkins expected to depart in free agency and Johnny Jolly making stupid decisions somewhere in Houston. Football Outsiders named defensive line as the team’s biggest post-draft hole and several experts suggested it was the Packers’ biggest need going into the draft.
We figure most politicians are humorless pricks, but apparently even they get the Jay Cutler joke. That is, that Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is a joke. It started on Monday when Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, a Republican from Janesville, opened his speech at the Economic Forum in Chicago with these words.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t so sure he and his teammates are going to be getting together for team workouts anytime soon. While several teams around the NFL have pulled together some sort of team-oriented workouts, the Packers haven’t and don’t seem in any hurry to do so. In fact, linebacker A.J. Hawk essentially said he doesn’t see the point.
Green Bay Packers receiver Greg Jennings is one of the best in the game, but he’s getting his motivation from someone who’s a little better — Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is a five-time Pro Bowler and one of the hardest workers in the NFL. Jennings, who has four fewer Pro Bowl selections, began working out with Fitzgerald in Arizona this week, under former NFL receivers coach Jerry Sullivan.
Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn may eventually end up playing for another team, but he sounds content to stay in Green Bay at the moment. Flynn’s name consistently comes up in trade rumors and has since he got his first NFL start in week 15 of the 2010 season and threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns
Cornerback Al Harris may not have finished his career or the 2010 season with the Green Bay Packers, but Harris will always be a Green Bay Packer in our estimation. The organization apparently agrees. Even though the team cut Harris after he came off the physically unable to perform list, he’ll still get a Super Bowl ring.
The Chicago Bears aren’t the only team aiming to sign Green Bay Packers defensive end Cullen Jenkins. The Washington Redskins are reportedly interested as well. Jenkins will be a free agent when the NFL’s offseason finally begins. The Packers have expressed no interest in re-signing the veteran, even though he’s coming off a season where he recorded a career-high seven sacks.
Awkward silence, anyone? The 2011 NFL lockout may be in full swing, but that didn’t stop Green Bay Packers players and brass from spending five days on a bus together this week for the annual Packers Tailgate Tour across Upper Michigan and Wisconsin. According to The Associated Press, coach Mike McCarthy, general manager Ted Thompson and several other staff members saw the bus off Tuesday.
Okay, maybe you’re not ranked and maybe you are, but you probably at least know someone who’s ranked in the latest edition of ESPN’s power rankings. The worldwide leader ranked the top owners in the NFL this week, and the Green Bay Packers, who are publicly owned by more than 100,000 stockholders, came in third.
The NFL Draft changes the face of every team’s roster and the Green Bay Packers are no exception, even though they’re the reigning Super Bowl champs. Several veterans will go into training camp to fight for a roster spot, while others will simply be let go during free agency. Here’s a look at which players […]
Since the lockout has put an end to the organized team activities and minicamps everyone has grown accustomed to this time of year, players from several teams have organized their own workouts. Up to this point, the Green Bay Packers have not been among them and there isn’t any sign that’s about to change. While […]
By the look of it, pre-draft visits mean absolutely nothing for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers brought around 20 players in for pre-draft visits, although that number could be more, since the team isn’t required to report them. They also worked out a few players at other sites. In all, each organization is allowed […]
Now that Brett Favre is supposedly retired for good, he needs something to do besides collect evil glares from Deanna and text lewd messages to the tart he met at the local Big Star. That something, at least according to the Lord Brett Favre himself, is coaching or television work. Favre was interviewed by Hattiesburg’s (Miss.) NBC affiliate at his football camp on Thursday, telling the station he’s starting a new career.
Since the NFL lockout went back into effect during the league’s three-day draft, teams have been prevented from signing undrafted free agents, as usual. Apparently, that hasn’t stopped some teams from contacting these players and their agents anyway. Not only is it another sign that the owners are the only ones who believe in the […]
