Matthews Makes Top 10 Defensive Players
May 24th

After last week’s edition of ESPN’s NFL power rankings, top helmets in the NFL, I half expected this week’s edition to focus on best colors. Of course, they went and pulled something somewhat relevant out — top 10 defensive players. Clay Matthews was the only member of the Green Bay Packers to make the top 10, finishing fifth. Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu was the consensus No. 1.
Woodson, Williams On Cornerback Power Rankings List
Apr 19th

Both of the Green Bay Packers starting cornerbacks, Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams, made ESPN’s cornerback power rankings list. Woodson finished third and Williams finished seventh. Not surprisingly, the top two in the rankings were the New York Jets’ Darrelle Revis and the Oakland Raiders’ Nnamdi Asomugha, who received all the first and second place votes.
Validated: Tramon Williams Among Best Corners In League
Mar 18th

We talked about it for much of the season — Green Bay Packers cornerback Tramon Williams has developed into one of the league’s best cover corners. Now, the hardcore football geek statistics have validated the statement. Williams appears near the top of Football Outsiders cornerback charting stats for 2010.
Packers Passing Attack Faces Tough Test Against Jets
Oct 26th

The New York Jets will have their best defender, cornerback Darrelle Revis, back at full strength for their match-up with the Green Bay Packers, this Sunday — something that isn’t good news for the team’s passing attack. The Jets are coming off a bye and Revis says he’s 100 percent for the first time since [...]
Packers Reward Woodson With Two-Year Extension
Sep 9th

The Green Bay Packers have locked up cornerback Charles Woodson for an additional two years. Woodson, the reigning NFL defensive player of the year, has three years remaining on his current deal. He will be 39 if he plays out the full contract, which seems unlikely. The deal is worth $55 million over the next [...]
Jermichael Finley Wants A Piece Of Darrelle Revis
Jul 23rd
Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley has never been shy. That was in evidence once again when Finley appeared on ESPN’s First Take. Among other things, Finley suggests he’s the best basketball-playing tight end in the NFL (over Tony Gonzales, who played basketball at Cal, and Antonio Gates, who played at Kent State), that [...]
Packers Reportedly Discussing New Contract With Woodson
Jun 8th

This comes as a bit of a surprise, but the Green Bay Packers and cornerback Charles Woodson are reportedly discussing a new contract. I say it’s a bit of a surprise because, although Woodson is coming off perhaps his finest season, he’ll be 34 this year and still has three years left on his current [...]
Top-Flight Cornerbacks Available, Packers Unlikely To Act
Feb 25th

Make no mistake about it, the Green Bay Packers are in the cornerback market. Al Harris is rehabilitating a major knee injury and behind Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams, who ended the season as the starters, the Packers are thin. There has been speculation the Packers might be interested in acquiring San Diego’s Antonio Cromartie, [...]
Woodson Packers’ Lone All Pro
Jan 14th

In news that should really surprise no one, cornerback Charles Woodson is the Green Bay Packers lone member of the NFL All-Pro team. The All-Pro team is voted on my members of the Associated Press and made up of the top players from both conferences, unlike the Pro Bowl, which separates the squads into AFC [...]
Woodson Picks Up Another Award And Rex Ryan Is a Douchebag
Jan 14th

Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday by a wide margin. On Wednesday, he picked up the Sporting News’ NFL defensive player of the year award, which is voted on by 636 players, coaches and executives. Woodson again finished first by a wide margin, receiving 241 [...]
Woodson Wins Defensive Player of the Year By a Landslide
Jan 12th

Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson put the question to rest today. He’s the NFL Defensive Player of the Year and he won by a wide margin over New York Jets’ cornerback Darrelle Revis. Woodson received 28 votes to Revis’ 14. The Denver Broncos’ Elvis Dumervil and the New Orleans Saints’ Darren Sharper tied for [...]
Woodson Wins Defensive Player of the Month Again. Does This Clinch It?
Jan 8th

Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson was named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Month for December, the third time he’s won the honor this season. Woodson also won the award in September and November. New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper won the award in October. This is the first time anyone has ever won [...]
Has Revis Edged Woodson For Defensive Player of the Year?
Dec 28th

We’ve handed Green Bay Packers’ cornerback Charles Woodson the defensive player of the year award already, but noted that his strongest competition is likely to come from New York Jets’ cornerback Darrelle Revis. Well, after the last two weeks, it appears the race isn’t quite over, and in fact, is probably closer than we imagine. [...]
Jets’ Revis Woodson’s Main Competition For Defensive MVP
Dec 18th

Around these parts it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Green Bay Packers’ Charles Woodson will be the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. We’ve looked at the competition and crunched the numbers. But we may have overlooked one guy – New York Jets’ cornerback Darrelle Revis. Previously, our discussion centered around the Minnesota [...]
