Jenkins Would Have Taken Less To Stay In Green Bay

Cullen Jenkins

It’s now a foregone conclusion defensive end Cullen Jenkins, who will be a free agent when the lockout ends, has played his last game for the Green Bay Packers. General manager Ted Thompson made no effort to sign Jenkins to a contract extension, even when Jenkins’ agent approached the team before the start of the 2010 season. On Wednesday, Jenkins, who had a career-high seven sacks in 2010, revealed he would have taken less money to remain in Green Bay.

Bears Will Target Cullen Jenkins

The Chicago Bears will target Green Bay Packers defensive end Cullen Jenkins whenever free agency begins, according to John Mullin of CSN Chicago. The Bears are looking to improve their defensive line and after re-signing defensive tackle Anthony Adams, Jenkins will be the team’s second priority.

Jolly’s Arrest Shouldn’t Change Packers’ Plans

Cullen Jenkins

There’s speculation Johnny Jolly’s second arrest for codeine possession, which put his NFL career in serious jeopardy, will force the Green Bay Packers to reevaluate re-signing defensive end Cullen Jenkins. Jenkins, who had seven sacks in 11 games in 2010, will be one of the most sought-after defensive free agents whenever free agency begins.

Jenkins Bitter, Says He’s Gone

Cullen Jenkins

As far as he’s concerned, Cullen Jenkins’ career with the Green Bay Packers is over.

He’s a little bitter about it too.

The Packers did not use their franchise or transition tags — the deadline to use them was Thursday — and the team hasn’t approached Jenkins about a new contract.

Packers Won’t Franchise Anyone

Cullen Jenkins

While several NFL teams have been slapping the franchise tag on their players, the Green Bay Packers won’t be using theirs.

There was speculation the Packers might use the tag on defensive end Cullen Jenkins or kicker Mason Crosby, both pending free agents, but Ted Thompson obviously thought the cost was too great.

Packers Next Big Decision Will Center Around Cullen Jenkins

Cullen Jenkins

The sheen of winning Super Bowl XLV hasn’t quite worn off, but the Green Bay Packers front office is going to have to make some important offseason decisions very soon. Jenkins Looks Good For Sunday

Cullen Jenkins

Defensive end Cullen Jenkins looks ready to return to the Green Bay Packers starting lineup for the wild card matchup with Philadelphia, on Sunday. With Desmond Bishop receiving a contact extension, defensive end Cullen Jenkins should be the top priority for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers have several key players who are scheduled to be free agents under the current system, which is expected to be extended at some point. In addition to Jenkins, they include fullbacks John […]

Jenkins May Be Latest Packer Out For The Year

Cullen Jenkins

Green Bay Packers defensive end Cullen Jenkins didn’t play a snap on Sunday. In fact, he didn’t attend a single practice in the past week. Jenkins has been staying off his injured calf, which he re-injured against San Francisco. The injury is likely to cost Jenkins another week and might end his season. “You can’t […]

Matthews Discusses Recent Drop In Production

Clay Matthews

Perhaps it isn’t quite accurate to say Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews’ production has dropped. His sack numbers have dropped, for sure. He’s now second in the league with 11.5 sacks — Miami’s Cameron Wake has 12 — after leading the league for most of the season and he hasn’t recorded a sack the […]

Jenkins Out This Week, Maybe Longer

Cullen Jenkins

Fresh off setting a career high in sacks after a two-sack performance against San Francisco, Green Bay Packers defensive end Cullen Jenkins got some bad news — the calf strain he suffered on Sunday will keep him out of this week’s game with Detroit and possibly longer. “It may be a couple weeks. When you’re […]

Packers Talking The Talk Despite Setbacks

Cullen Jenkins

Everyone is a little frustrated the Green Bay Packers can’t quite get over the hump, including the players, but while the Packers could have won every game they played this season, only two teams have gone through an NFL regular season undefeated. There have been some close losses. There was the missed opportunity to make […]

Green Bay Packers linebacker Desmond Bishop finally got his chance to start and he’s making the most of it. Bishop has outperformed Nick Barnett, who he replaced in the starting lineup after Barnett’s season-ending wrist injury, by a wide margin. So far this season, Bishop has 54 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and an […]

Young And Unproven Players Are Now Part Of Packers’ Success

As the Green Bay Packers’ injuries began to pile up, quite a few people thought the wheels were about to fall off. The Packers currently have 10 players on injured reserve, five of which are starters, eight of which play defense. While Ryan Grant and the Packers lack of a certifiable running game was the […]

Packers Cut Montgomery; Bigby Could Be Back Soon

Mike Montgomery

The Green Bay Packers have ended the illustrious Mike Montgomery era, releasing the defensive end Tuesday. Montgomery played in two games this season for the Packers, after being signed on October, 15. He recorded no tackles. A former sixth-round pick by the Packers, Montgomery simply doesn’t fit the Packers 3-4 system and he never has. […]

Jones suffered a significant shoulder injury in Sunday’s win over Minnesota. Barnett To Injured Reserve, Packers Sign Montgomery

The Green Bay Packers officially ended Nick Barnett’s season by putting him on injured reserve. Barnett had wrist surgery earlier this week and there was a possibility he could have returned in eight weeks, but the Packers apparently weren’t interested in waiting to see if that would happen. Barnett injured his wrist in the Packers’ […]
