Brandt Opens Door On Favre Return

Brett Favre

Not that anyone needs to help out in this department because it always has a life of its own, but NFL.com’s Gil Brandt has opened the door on the possible return of one Brett Favre… again. Brandt says Favre might be getting the itch again, but this year things are a little different.

Packers Might Have Super Bowl Hangover

Aaron Rodgers

This probably wasn’t the best offseason for a lockout, at least as far as the Green Bay Packers organization is concerned. Every team coming off a Super Bowl win experiences some sort of hangover. The players are partying, making personal appearances, getting their faces in the media and partaking in all kinds of stupid promotional and […]

A Historical Look At No. 32

Drew Brees

The Green Bay Packers will select at No. 32 in the first round of tonight’s NFL Draft and as you would expect, there have been some hits and plenty of misses at that particular spot in recent years. Here’s a look at the players taken at No. 32 in the past 10 years and what […]

Brett Favre Will Not Be Going To Carolina

Brett Favre

Just like that, the Brett Favre to the Carolina Panthers rumors are dead. Although we didn’t believe it, we told you about the rumor yesterday, after some tool from Minnesota wrote about it in a newspaper column. It’s already been debunked.

What? Brett Favre May Return With Carolina?

Brett Favre

Quarterback Brett Favre may return to the NFL for the 2011 season, according to Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, but not with the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings seem intent on choosing a quarterback in this year’s draft and possibly adding a veteran like the Washington Redskins Donovan McNabb as a bridge until he’s ready.

Packers Get Fourth-Round Compensatory Pick

Aaron Kampman

The Green Bay Packers got something for Aaron Kampman after all. The Packers received a fourth-round compensatory pick for losing Kampman in free agency last year. The NFL doles out draft picks for teams who lose more free agents than they sign and everyone knows the Packers don’t sign anyone, so the loss of Kampman, who signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, landed them a pretty decent draft pick.

Dom Capers Isn’t Going Anywhere

Dom Capers

Perhaps lost in the hype surrounding the Green Bay Packers’ matchup with the Chicago Bears for the NFC Championship is this important nugget — Packers defensive coordinator isn’t going anywhere. There was talk towards the end of the season Capers should be and could be considered for an NFL head coaching job because of the […]

Dom Capers A Head Coach? I Don’t Think So

Nothing against Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers, but the guy isn’t an NFL head coach, despite the support he seems to be garnering around Green Bay. On Wednesday, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Capers was worthy of a head coaching job. I respectfully disagree, Mike. Capers is a great defensive coordinator, something he […]

WhatIfSports: Packers Win Super Bowl XLV

We’ve talked about the importance, or lack there of, of preseason predictions. However, WhatIfSports.com is a little bit different and little bit more intriguing. The site uses a computer to generate the results for each NFL game of the season based on player stats. Of course, they’re using 2009 season stats for their projections at […]

Day One Free Agency Update

We’re going to update this post throughout the day simply because there already is a lot going on and there will be a lot more in the free for all known as NFL free agency. The most recent news will be at the top. ———- Safety Antrel Rolle was the last big signing of the […]

Bears Targeting Kampman, Peppers

Aaron Kampman

The Chicago Bears needs a defensive end, that’s been established. Adewale Ogunleye is an unrestricted free agent and isn’t expected to be re-signed. Further, Gaines Adams, who the Bears traded a second-round draft choice for during the 2009 season, died in the offseason. Even with both of those guys, the Bears defensive line managed only […]

Packers’ Special Teams Get Worse

Shawn Slocum

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who watched the Green Bay Packers play in 2009 – the team’s special teams were atrocious. That has been confirmed once again in the Dallas Morning News’ annual special teams rankings, where the Packers finished 31st. The rankings are compiled by ranking each team in 22 special […]

Packers Off Julius Peppers’ List

Juliius Peppers

We’ve connected Carolina Panthers defensive end and free-agent-to-be Julius Peppers with the Green Bay Packers on a few occasions. So have several other outlets, but it looks like Peppers has already crossed the Packers off his list of potential teams. The National Football Post’s Andrew Brandt says there’s no chance Peppers will sign with Carolina […]

The Packers Pro Bowl Snubs

Clay Matthews

Every year there are guys who get elected to the Pro Bowl who don’t deserve to be there. Every year there are guys who are more deserving who get left off the squad. The Green Bay Packers have three deserving Pro Bowlers in Aaron Rodgers, Charles Woodson and Nick Collins, but they also have two […]

NFC Playoff Picture: Clearing Out the Trash

Eli Manning

While there are still eight teams vying for two wild card slots in the AFC, the NFC picture has become pretty clear after Sunday’s games. The Green Bay Packers currently hold the fifth seed, behind the division-leading New Orleans Saints (13-0, No. 1 seed), Minnesota Vikings (11-2, 2), Philadelphia Eagles (9-4, 3) and Arizona Cardinals […]

Trade Rumors Around the NFC North

Julius Peppers

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, and while there are very few in-season trades made in the NFL, that doesn’t stop people from speculating about what could or should happen. The Green Bay Packers have been linked to several names, but more on that in a moment. The most persistent rumor revolving around any NFC […]

Packers Hire Trgovac, Peppers Coming Next?

Mike Trgovac

In a move that we normally wouldn’t even both to speculate about or address, the Green Bay Press Gazette reported that the Packers hired Mike Trgovac as their defensive line coach today. The reason this may be significant is two-fold. First, Trgovac was Carolina’s defensive coordinator for the past six seasons. He turned down a contract […]

The Packers Are Dead, Long Live The Packers

Aaron Rodgers

With yet another heartbreaking 4 points-or-less loss, the Green Bay Packers have all but assured that the playoffs will be out of their reach, with their 35-31 defeat at the hands of the Carolina Panthers. The Packers don’t deserve it this year, not this coaching staff, not this underachieving group of players. But it’s hard […]
