The Green Bay Packers will reportedly have a completely different looking backfield on Thursday night than they’ve had at any point this season. Eddie Lacy, who played last week on a bum ankle, reportedly will not play, according to an unnamed ESPN source.
Lacy hasn’t practiced this week after not finishing the Dallas game. He first injured his ankle the week before against the Giants. Normally, Lacy’s carries would go to James Starks, but he had knee surgery Sunday morning and is expected to be out at least through this week.
That prompted the Packers to trade for Knile Davis Tuesday morning. It appears the moves won’t stop there either.
ESPN is also reporting that the Packers will bring running back Don Jackson up off the practice squad.
Of course, that will require them to make another roster move. The team placed Sam Shields on injured reserve in order to bring in Davis.
When all of this is said and done, the Packers will have four running backs on the active roster.
