The Green Bay Packers have a preseason game in the books a week later than expected. Shawn and Monty review that game, the players and the plays that stood out.
A number of guys were able to make a case for a roster spot in week one. Some of them are guys we didn’t expect to make any case whatsoever.
A couple spots have a lot of question marks. That now includes the receiver position, where Jeff Janis is out and Ty Montgomery is back. Do the Packers even have a second outside receiver anymore? He might just be a tight end.
The other issue is defensive line, where we were surprised to see Dean Lowry get the start over Kenny Clark on Friday. If that continues, the Packers are in real trouble.
And finally, what is preseason worth anyway? Nothing for Aaron Rodgers, who only plays when he feels like it. A lot for guys trying to make a roster. And not much to us. Preseason wins don’t matter. Only playoff wins do.
The Packers will need a lot of things to go right to get those latter wins.
