Hey, Derek Carr is a pretty good quarterback.
We have no beef with him. At one point, someone compared him with former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, calling him a gunslinger.
And you know, Favre was THE gunslinger.
Throw your hands in the air, slingin’ balls like he just don’t care!
Often into the opposition’s hands…
But there’s greatness in that analogy. Compare a QB to Hall of Famer Brett Favre and that says something. It says he can make all the throws and it also says that he just doesn’t give a fuck about any defense because I CAN MAKE ALL THE THROWS, FUCK A DEFENSE!
Well, The Favre does not buy into that comparison.
“I don’t know if I consider him a gunslinger,” Favre said. “I think he’s a little more polished. And I mean that with all due respect. I think he’s done a tremendous job in Oakland. I like the way he plays. I think he’s a little more polished. I like to watch him. A good player.”
Yes.
You see, Derek Carr is a “good” player. He’s no Brett Favre.
Favre is obviously insulted by the comparison and, at this point, he should be. Derek Carr is a nice QB, but if you were to compare him to a Packers’ quarterback, we’d go with Lynn Dickey.
Also a nice player. Could certainly put some points on the board. Threw a lot of TDs.
Not Brett Favre.
What is perhaps most impressive in Favre’s statement is this.
While he was clearly insulted by the insinuation, he managed to roll right around it.
Yeah, good player. Talented. Like to watch him play.
Unsaid: BUT GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE COMPARING THIS GUY TO ME!
