This should not come as a surprise, but it sounds like veteran receiver James Jones hasn’t heard from the Green Bay Packers about returning.
Despite leading the Packers in receiving yardage and touchdowns in 2015, the Packers really don’t have any room for Jones moving forward. Already on the roster are Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson, Ty Montgomery, Jared Abbrederis, Davante Adams and Jeff Janis.
Two of those guys — Nelson and Montgomery — are returning from injuries that cost them all (Nelson) or most of (Montgomery) the 2015 season. The Packers usually keep five receivers on the active roster and they already have six almost certain locks to make their 2016 roster.
That simply doesn’t leave any room for Jones.
James Jones: I was hoping I would return to GB but I don't know what is going to happen. Looks like I'm going to hit open market. #Packers

The tone suggests Jones hasn’t gotten a call from the Packers, which means he’ll hit free agency on March 9.
When that happens, Jones will be hoping for a better result than last time.
When Jones hit free agency in 2014, he never heard from the Packers and waited around until mid-March to get a three-year, $11 million deal with Oakland. They cut him after a single season.
The Packers may not love you, but we always will, James!
