[tps_title]23. Houston Texans[/tps_title]
Dark blue, red, and white yet again. An overused color palette, both in the NFL and more particularly in other professional sports. There is nothing objectionable in the uniform design and lettering, but nothing that really excites or captivates the imagination, either.
The red, white and blue longhorn with a star for an “eye” though screams expansion team. It may, however, be underrated by incorporating elements of the Texas flag, thus harkening back to the team’s mascot, “the Texan,” with the longhorn, another symbol of the state, albeit overshadowed by a great obsession by football fans in the Lone Star state, the University of Texas Longhorns. This begs the question however: is the team’s mascot a Texan, presumably someone born and bred in the state of Texas, or long-horn cattle that breed there? Do cattle, as animals raised, harvested and slaughtered as livestock, fit in the tradition of embracing animals and creatures that inspire fear and awe? No.
