The Green Bay Packers have signed first-round pick Damarious Randall, according to Adam Caplan.
That means the Packers now have their entire draft class under contract.
Like all first-round picks, Randall got a four-year deal with a team option for a fifth year. The deal is worth $7,915,728, with $6,401,310 guaranteed.
Although he’s converting from safety to cornerback, it now appears Randall has a legitimate shot at earning ample playing time as a rookie.
Casey Hayward, who was expected to be the frontrunner to start at cornerback opposite Sam Shields, has been a non-participant thus far this offseason. As has become the norm, Hayward is injured. Meanwhile, the other guy who was expected to compete for that starting spot — Micah Hyde — is not even being used at cornerback.
That has allowed Randall and second-round pick Quinten Rollins to get plenty of work.
We consider both of them works in progress, but it appears Randall may be given a shot at a starting job.
