When Aaron Rodgers went down in a heap last Sunday, we all feared the worst.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback apparently also feared the worst. On Tuesday, Rodgers said he thought he tore his Achilles against Detroit.
“My initial thought was I popped my Achilles,” Rodgers said on his radio show. “That’s why I kind of stayed down. It was a very painful sensation.”
Rodgers, of course, just aggravated the calf injury he suffered against Tampa Bay a week earlier. He returned to the game and led the Packers to the predictable victory over the Lions.
While at least one outsider has put the timetable for Rodgers’ injury to heal at six to eight weeks, QB1 says he expects to feel better when the Packers next play than he did going into the Lions’ game.
“Fortunate that we have two weeks here because I feel confident that I’ll be in a better spot than I was going into the Lions game with an extra week of rest.”
Feel better or not, we all know Rodgers is going to play. The Packers’ hopes for the playoffs are now pinned squarely on how well Rodgers can function with the injury and whether he aggravates it again.
He clearly won’t be back to 100 percent until the offseason.
