Because OF COURSE! We pretty much expected right guard T.J. Lang to be sitting around on his fat ass when the Green Bay Packers practiced today. We did not expect left guard Josh Sitton to join him.
But there he was, also sitting on his fat ass.
You see, Sitton injured his big toe against the Saints. Is he going to go this week?
Buffoon does not know.
“He had a big toe injury against the Saints. We’ll see what he can do at practice tomorrow,” coach Mike McCarthy told the media after practice.
Lang, meanwhile, is dealing with a sprained ankle, which is the injury du jour right now in Green Bay. From what we’ve heard, we’d be surprised if Lang played this week.
So who are your backup guards? Well, Lane Taylor — a stupendous run blocker if we’ve ever seen one — is one of them. Center/tackle J.C. Tretter, who just came off injured reserve, would have to be the other.
It isn’t all bad news though.
Literally everyone else was a full participant in practice today. That includes safety Morgan Burnett, who missed the Saints’ game; cornerback Sam Shields, who missed two weeks with a knee injury; and defensive end Datone Jones, who missed three weeks with his own sprained ankle.
Burnett was clearly missed in New Orleans. Having him back for Chicago will be key for the Packers.
