Clay Matthews has another groin injury.
We found that out on Wednesday and Matthews was limited in practice again on Thursday. All indications are that Matthews will play on Sunday, but it’s fair to wonder how effective he’ll be.
Matthews played in the Green Bay Packers’ first meeting with the Chicago Bears after suffering the last groin injury and was clearly somewhat limited. He intercepted a pass and even though he more or less had a clear path to the end zone, Matthews ran out of bounds as he was about to be caught from behind.
That’s a guy a little too worried about hurting himself further.
This time, Matthews says he feels better.
“I think we’re just being more cautious than anything,” Matthews said. “I was able to go out there against Chicago, cautiously, of course. I feel like the progression I’m making this week as opposed to maybe Week 3 and 4 is ahead of where I was.”
Caution.
That’s the operative word here.
Whatever we do, we’re going to do it cautiously because Clay Matthews is a china doll and we don’t want to break him.
