Off week. Good of time as any to talk about former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley’s delusions of grandeur.
You know the story. Finley injured his neck last season, the Packers wouldn’t re-sign him and he remains a free agent. It’s pretty clear to us that if Finley was going to sign with anyone, it would have happened by now.
Of course, he allegedly got an offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers and turned it down because the deal didn’t pay him enough money. As if he’s in a position of negotiating power…
Anyway, Finley made an appearance on one of the local TV stations this week — whatever one let’s Ahman Green talk about sports. And after some verbal fumbling around, the host of this particular show asked Finley if he thinks he’s going to play in the NFL again.
Of course he does!
Hey, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but former Packers safety Nick Collins and his neck injury also thought they were going to play in the NFL again. It took him a few years to finally give up on that dream.
Finley will at least get to collect a handsome insurance policy if he so desires. That should ease the blow a bit.
