Tight end Jermichael Finley would probably have a contract for the 2014 season by now if it weren’t for that pesky neck injury.
Instead, he’s preparing for more tests and compiling a list of teams who are interested in his services. You know, if he’s ever cleared to play football again.
Add the Miami Dolphins to that list, which also includes the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers.
The Miami Herald tells us the Dolphins have spoken to Finley’s agent, telling him they could have interest if Finley is cleared. That said, the report also tells us other teams have been more proactive, but those teams are not named.
If Finley were cleared and signed with the Dolphins, he’d be reunited with Joe Philbin. Miami’s coach was the Packers’ offensive coordinator for five seasons before heading south.
So yeah, lots of ifs.
That’s about what it boils down to with Finley for the near future.
