Johnny Jolly

We told you yesterday that the Green Bay Packers knew Johnny Jolly had a significant injury. Well, turns out it’s of the season-ending variety.

Jolly left last Sunday’s win in the first quarter with what was deemed a shoulder injury. He did not return to the game.

In actuality, Jolly has a neck injury. Specifically, it’s a bulging disc in his neck that may require surgery. The Packers medical staff will wait for the swelling to subside before making that determination.

Before you overreact, the injury reportedly isn’t career-threatening.

Yesterday, we suggested Josh Boyd would take the majority of Jolly’s snaps, but it appears that job will fall to C.J. Wilson. Coach Mike McCarthy talked about how well Wilson practiced this week during his press conference.

Boyd has been coming on lately though, so we still expect to see more of him on the field.

As for Jolly, his loss hurts more than just the product on the field. He was also the defensive leader in the locker room.

Now the Packers have zero of those guys on the defensive side of the ball.
