Eddie Lacy practiced for the Green Bay Packers for the first time on Friday since spraining his ankle against Atlanta. It looks like he’ll play this week, but he could be in line for fewer carries.
Lacy hurt his ankle on the final play of the first half on a meaningless run, last week. He returned in the second half, but he missed two series and complained after the game that he couldn’t push off as well as he normally does.
Lacy sounded a little more upbeat today.
“Right now, after practice today, I feel good,” Lacy said Friday. “I still have 48 hours left, so it’s definitely going to help between now and game time.”
Lacy is officially listed as probable on the injury report.
Still, the Packers may lighten Lacy’s load a bit this week. That would mean more James Starks.
“I have no problem giving the ball to James 20 times if that’s the way it shakes out,” McCarthy said. “I like our running-back situation right now.”
Lacy has 227 carries on the season so far. He’s had eight games of 20 or more carries. Starks has just 65 carries on the season and hasn’t had more than 10 in a game since week three.
