Cobb broke his fibula on Sunday and reports were that he would miss six to eight weeks. This designation means the soonest Cobb would play is December 15 against Dallas.
Each NFL team is able to put one guy on injured reserve and then pull him back during the season. Everyone else who goes on injured reserve is out for the entire season.
Earlier in the day, the team promoted tight end Jake Stoneburner from the practice squad to the active roster. They also promoted receiver Myles White.
Both players were 2013 undrafted free agents. Stoneburner went to Ohio State and White played at Louisiana Tech.
In order to make room for White, the Packers placed backup offensive lineman Greg Van Roten on injured reserve.
