Now we really know why Eddie Lacy slid to the second round of the NFL Draft. In addition to concerns about his fused toe, scouts thought he watched too many cartoons.
Therefore, he doesn’t love football enough.
This revelation comes to us from the profile Tyler Dunne did of the Green Bay Packers rookie running back.
Many scouts, Lacy admitted, questioned his love for the game. They’re skeptical, unsure if this cartoon-loving kid has a deep passion for his profession. To Lacy, football is “the childhood game.” He views it “from a kid’s perspective.”
So Lacy readily admits that he loves watching cartoons. He also admits that he isn’t much for watching football or sports in general. Does that make him the next Brent Fullwood?
Well, we’ll see, I guess.
“I know a lot of teams questioned how much I love football because I don’t talk about it 24/7,” Lacy says. “But I feel like it’s not how much you know about it or how much you watch it. It’s all about production and obviously up to this point I did what I was supposed to do. You put me on the field and I’ll contribute.”
The profile paints a picture of Lacy as somewhat depressed and maybe even unmotivated. His weight had ballooned to around 240 pounds in early July because he was eating too much fast food.
He obviously prefers to be alone watching cartoons than hanging out with the boys. That’s not necessarily bad as long as he brings his lunchpail everyday.
But it sounds like the Packers are going to have to keep a close eye on his physical and mental state.
Somehow, I feel this is appropriate here.
