Matt Flynn is Going to the Raiders

Matt Flynn

It looks like former Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn is finally going to get his shot to start. It will be with the Oakland Raiders.

Flynn’s teammate with the Seattle Seahawks, Doug Baldwin, wished him well on Twitter.

So you’re probably saying to yourself — but the Raiders already have Carson Palmer. Well, they don’t think too much of Palmer’s $13 million salary. They asked him to take a pay cut, but he refused, so now the Raiders are expected to release him.

That will pretty much make Flynn the de facto starter. That is, unless Terrelle Pryor develops into an NFL-caliber quarterback overnight or the Raiders draft someone and he beats Flynn out in the preseason like Russell Wilson did in Seattle.

Those scenarios seem pretty unlikely though. Former Packers executive Reggie McKenzie is running the show in Oakland. He’s very familiar with Flynn and knows what he’s getting.

And that would seem to be a new starting quarterback.

Unfortunately, the Raiders are crippled by giving up all those draft picks….. They still have several years of rebuilding to do. ….

They do have some decent receivers and a pretty good running back, when healthy (which is almost never).

How is that tweet from 7:36pm on march 29, 2013, when it is only 5:52 pm on march 29, 2013, right now? Is he in Europe? lol

The Raiders need to just pick up a BUNCH of free agents. Ty would be wise to trade draft picks for higher salaried veteran players.

They don’t need more offensive lineman. Jared Veldheer is so loaded up with steroids and HGH that he could probably block 3 rushers by himself right now.

Glad to see him get a chance to start :) too bad it has to be with a team with a dirty reputation. I wish him the best

Gotta feel for McKenzie. The Palmer trade was similar to the infamous Hadl trade. Raider management is going to have to be patient, cause they have not hit bottom yet.

Nice, we got nothing for Flynn via trade and now he gets the chance to start for two teams in two years. Nice moves Teddy!!! Way to collect those draft picks! #SuperBowlBound
