Aaron Rodgers Wants to Play Until 2020, Not Worried About Deal
Aaron Rodgers is planning to be the Green Bay Packers quarterback for some time. Rodgers told the Press Gazette he wants to play for at least eight more seasons, which would put him in Green Bay through 2020.
“I’ve had eight great years there, the last five as a starter,” Rodgers said of his career in Green Bay. “Hopefully I can give them another eight plus years of playing at a high level.”
Rodgers also said he wants to finish his career with the Packers. Of course, the organization will have to pony up some big money for Rodgers sooner or later. Although his current deal runs through 2014, we’re guessing a new deal happens sooner.
Rodgers makes an average of around $10 million a season. Other elite quarterbacks make closer to $20 million per, led by Drew Brees, who’s deal averages exactly that much.
The good news is Rodgers doesn’t seem too worried about it.
“We’ll see what happens with that, I’m not stressing about it,” Rodgers said. “I think the Packers would like me to be around for a few more years and I’d love to finish my career there.”
