McCarthy calls all the offensive plays. I don’t feel a need to be worried or upset. Having MM and an offensive coordinator is just having two offensive coordinators. The Bears are just doing what happens every year. Other NFC North teams try to get better by taking our players and coaches. It’s nothing new.

The Bears are dumb. They had a fine HC, they needed a real OC and failed to get one. They don’t need a QB coach because Cutler won’t want to cooperate, they need a play calling stud like…well who knows? Someone who understands personnel and how best to put them in situations to succeed.

I think it is a smart move by McCarthy. If you didn’t let him interview, he will lose concentration more worrying about “what could have been.” This way, he spends one afternoon interviewing and gets his attention back on beating the 9ers.

Mike McCarthy is a big supporter of letting people move up through the ranks. That might be exactly why he allowed it.

Besides, how much preparation did he really need? He’s the offensive coordinator for the Packers. I’m surprised the Bears even bothered to interview him.

Jimmy Johnson has said that the Bears signed Marc Trestman. So perhaps MM knew they were close to a hire and wanted Clements to at least have the exposure to the interview process.

This was MM’s choice, and seems odd to me as well.

It isn’t just the interview. An interview of this magnitude you spend quality time preparing for. If he is interviewing today, that means he spent time in the last couple days preparing for it. That was time he could have spent focusing on the 49ers.

I hope the Bears are stupid enough to hire Clements or Brian Kelly. Love that idea.
