Nick Perry hit on Andrew Luck

A lot of people have been comparing this Green Bay Packers squad with the 2010 squad that started slow and went on to win the Super Bowl. Well, they’re becoming more like that team in another way — their injury list is expanding about as quickly as Mike McCarthy‘s waistline.

Outside linebacker Nick Perry, who’s been out three games with a knee injury, had surgery on his wrist this week. That surgery could reportedly end his season.

Perry first hurt the wrist in week one, but he kept playing… until the knee injury. The wrist injury was lingering and Perry got a second opinion this week before going ahead with surgery.

It looks like the Packers will be forced to stick with Erik Walden as a starter at outside linebacker, at least for the foreseeable future. Dezman Moses and the Frank Zombo, who was activated from the PUP last week, will also have increased roles. When the Packers return from their bye, those roles will probably be dramatically increased.

That’s because Clay Matthews may not be back from the hamstring injury he suffered against Arizona.

In 2010, the Packers put 14 guys on injured reserve. So far this season, they’ve put five guys on IR, but Perry and injured tackle Derek Sherrod could add to that list soon.
