Haha... the ENTIRE game was given a "thorough review." I don't include everything in the write up because then it would take an hour to read it.

I left out everything that I thought was largely unimportant.

The face mask penalty you are referring to happened on 1st down and the Packers punted on that drive. No factor.

On the Packers TD drive, they got ONE 1st down off penalty. That was the controversial PI call against Chancellor on Finley on 3rd and 2. I specifically talked about that call. The replay shows that Chancellor's helmet hit Finley in the back well before the ball arrived. It was actually the RIGHT call.

Both Jennings in the first place, and then Rodgers on the review, had that first down. Right call.

The refs don't account for the fact that until the horrific roughing the passer call, the Packers had 184 yards in the 2nd half to Seattle's -1. And your assertion that without some sort of help, the Packers wouldn't have scored in the 2nd half is not based on anything shown by the tape of that game. Frankly, its delusional.

My opinion of the Sam Shields call has changed after viewing it again.

At the end of the play, Sydney Rice attempts to jump over Shields to catch the ball. On tape, you can see that Shields grabs the bottom of Rice's jersey to impede his leap for the ball. Rice's jersey clearly stretches away from his body, which is a red flag for the refs to call a penalty.

I don't think it is fair to penalize Shields here because Rice at the same time has his hands on Shields' head and shoulders in an attempt to impede Shields from jumping for the ball. So, it should be equal action and no call, in my mind.

But, there IS a reason to flag Shields here, and this call is not as bad as the PI against Shields in Indy and neither are as bad as the egregious Roughing the Passer call that started this drive.

Also, the PI came right after two consecutive holding calls on Seattle. Both of which, also could be argued were invalid.

For real, as soon as the 2nd holding was called, I turned to my wife and said, "Here comes a penalty on the Packers." The only surprise here is that the make-up call came on the very next play instead of 3rd down.

Lastly, I also want to quick note that yes, the Seahawks had 8 sacks in the 1st half. However, on one of those sacks Rodgers simply fell down during one of the strangest stumbles I've ever seen a QB take in the pocket.

Also, I would touch on that last call again. A lesson I think that Jennings will take to his grave. KNOCK THE BALL DOWN on a hail mary. Don't go for the catch. THAT is why the Pack lost. Don't leave it up to another human being to make a call. Because there is that chance that they will make the wrong call which to be honest, was the case here.

Thanks for doing this, Shawn.

My only complaint is there was no mention of the phantom Sam Shields pass interference. At the time of the play, I said it was probably the worst call I had ever seen in sports. Little did I know it would be trumped later in the same game.

The only things I see missing from this review are the many 'iffy' penalties on third down to sustain drives that were stopped by the Seahawks (a facemask of Rodgers when he slid for a sack on 3rd and long around the 45 which would have forced a punt when the defender touched the back of his helmut to touch him down...very questionable). You see, if we slam on that last 'catch' then we must give the ENTIRE game a thorough review. Then we must review the actual TD drive as well. Where yet again the Packers offense was stopped multiple times on 3rd down but extended via at least 2 extremely questionable penalties. Then the 3rd down run where Rodgers was given a 1st and goal when it was definitely questionable. Questionable enough to not overturn the 'on the field call'. So, there are a lot of things to look at on both sides of the ball. I fear that if those typically 'non-call' penalties aren't made then the Pack goes scoreless in the second half of that game.
