Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler took a little time out of his busy schedule of being a complete vagina to talk a little trash about the Green Bay Packers cornerbacks on Tuesday.
The Packers have traditionally played the Bears’ crappy receivers man-to-man and jammed them at the line. This has worked pretty well with jokers like Devin Hester and Earl Bennett, who would have to compete for a roster spot on any other team.
This year, the Bears actually added some big, physical receivers who can catch the ball, though. Cutler doesn’t think the Packers press coverage scheme is going to work anymore. When asked about the Packers jamming his receivers on Tuesday he had this to say.
“Good luck,” Cutler said.
“We invite press coverage. We invite man.”
Cutty! You’re the man, bro!
It will be interesting to see if the Packers change their approach. The Bears have two larger receivers in Brandon Marshall (6-5, 230) and Alshon Jeffery (6-3, 217) for the first time in Cutler’s Bears tenure. These guys aren’t going to be bullied as easily as someone like the 5-11, 190-pound Hester.
That being said, the Packers have a healthy Tramon Williams, who we’re pretty sure can play anyone in any fashion. Of course, they also have Jarrett Bush, who’s probably going to get abused.
Will the Packers adjust their pass coverage scheme? They certainly better do something different than they did last Sunday.
