Brandian Ross was one of the surprise players to make the Green Bay Packers final roster coming out of training camp. Monday, his short tenure on the team’s roster came to an end.
Ross was released to make room for linebacker Erik Walden, who’s returning from a one-game suspension.
Walden had to sit out the Packers’ first game after the NFL, in its infinite wisdom, suspended him because of a domestic incident that happened last November. Walden was jailed, but reached an agreement on a deferred judgment, meaning charges will be dropped if he stays clean.
Walden was one of the bright spots for the Packers defense during the preseason. In fact, he was one of the only guys who put any pressure on the quarterback. They could have used him yesterday.
In all likelihood, Walden will be the lead-footed Nick Perry‘s backup going into week two.
Ross, who was inactive in week one, spent last season on the Packers practice squad.
The Packers will have to make a similar roster move when Mike Neal returns after his four-week suspension.
