Perry did apply some pressure as far as moving his guy backwards from time to time...which resulted in some plays for others. He's a straight line bull right now. Not capable of being a playmaker right now but still able to anchor a bit against double teams and push the pocket.

Chargers got 2 great rookies--Melvin Ingram and Kendall Reyes.

Now that 'Overreaction Monday' is over...
Maybe the best thing to get the Packers ass in gear this year is a good, solid ass whoopen at the hands of a good running football team (even if there is only 16 games).
Our eyes are wide-open now.
The competition will be easier...we will still win at least 10-11 games.
We need to get stronger and improve on defense quick.

Monty, it is the same damn recipe from Kansas City. The only difference is that the 49ers have better parts to get the job done.

Not every defense can pull it off because you have to be able to tackle well and your LBs have to be good and cover a lot of ground. It is the same defense the Bears always play against us, and they have the personnel to do it.

The difference is that sometimes we can get the Bears to cheat against the run and burn them. There was no doing that to the 49ers.

Jarrett Bush... True. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he never starts again, though his game wasn't disastrous by any means.

Scab refs... Very true. Horseshittery. Pack got outplayed, but I would be interested in how that game goes if the refs knew what pass interference was. The 49er defenders never looked for the ball all game. Regardless, you let a good defense get away with rape, and its sure to be a great defense.

Cobb... true dat, and I loved how we used them. Great screen play. Should have done it more than once.

Perry... Nick Perry is the young AJ Hawk for Monty. It was his first game. Last year Matthews allegedly got fewer sacks because he had no help. This game Matthews had 2.5 sacks. The only difference? Perry. MAYBE he deserves some credit. Just maybe.

You hit the nail on the head, Monty.
I do think you are correct on everything here...
Especially the caoching parts. I have never felt McCarthy/Capers were purely outcoached in their regime until yesterday.
It was poor week 1 preperation.
I see bright spots in Perry vs. the run & there is no denying his raw power...he is just unpolished. Hopefully by midseason he will be much improved.
The Bears are hungry...we better get our shit together before Thursday night or we're gonna be 0-2 at home & in or Conference.

Clay's first sack was possible because Perry pushed his man straight back to Alex Smith, leaving him with little room to escape.

The 49ers were using an obscene amount of formations that would have taken a ton of practice time focused on this game, and McCarthy made some incredible adjustments at the half to compensate.

am I the only one that has seen a slightly better AJ Hawk than last year? i mean, it's still not worth the money they're giving to him, but hey, maybe he'll be a decent ILB when he'll be 40!
