Packers Get Some Offensive Line Depth
The Green Bay Packers added some sorely-needed depth to their offensive line, signing veteran Reggie Wells.
Unfortunately, Wells has primarily played guard during his nine-year NFL career. The Packers biggest need seems to be at left tackle, where Derek Sherrod is still recovering from a broken leg and Marshall Newhouse suffered a concussion last week during Family Night.
Those two injuries put Herb Taylor on the No. 1 unit.
As for Wells, he’s 31 and has started only one game in the past two seasons (with Carolina and Philadelphia). However, he was a full-time starter at left guard for Arizona from 2004-09.
To make room on the roster, the Packers put tackle Mike McCabe, an undrafted rookie, on injured reserve.

A veteran that has played left tackle & stayed on should be able to switch back given time to learn the schemes. I appreciate his experience–we need that in the O-line. Rodgers go hit way too much last season; we have to protect the man!!
I wouldn’t be surprised if Rodgers sits out even more of the preseason than he normally would considering the iffyness at LT.

Hopefully he gets acclimated quick because Herb Taylor was a disaster against the Chargers

Lang would move to LT and EDS or this dude would play guard.
