I was a huge fan of everything Favre did on the field and off, when he was a Packer. He left but his legacy in the team did not. Sure, he did a lot of stupid things but he always had us poised for a season ending run IN the playoffs. Before him we had no real hope, but then he dropped in Green Bay. Soon thereafter, VERY SOON, all the pieces started dropping. I think he’s a victim of his own success; he turned into someone who believed he could do no wrong.
What he did after he left, however, ah well. As fans we contribute to the team, but as fans we don’t set his salary. It was through his OWN performance that made him who he was. After he left, he owed us NOTHING. Football, as much as we want it to be a SPORT and incur loyalty in the players, is nothing but business to some. If nothing else, Favre proved that to us better than any.
