I don’t think anyone needs to tell TT or MM how to run a successful team. I feel quite confident that if Gurley or Borel are better players than DD, then they will make the team.
However, Gurley and Borel have a lot to prove before they can make that statement.
I am not ready to make it.
Hines Ward MIGHT have been a better player during his prime than DD, maybe, tough call. But he was NOT a better player in his final year.
I remember watching him during my dozen or so viewings of the Super Bowl, and dude was slower than a TE without the size.
</blockquote>

I shouldn't have made such a strong statement in my original post, but the point is, if they are better players right now, they need to get the nod over him. Which seems likely.

Of course they could. The point of that was to say there's no way anyone could say what will win us or cost us an SB. But if these guys are better, bottom line they should replace driver. I'm not happy about it, but thats how you run a successful team.

I will NOT have this conversation again. Keeping driver at the expense of a 2 year practice squad player will not keep us from the super bowl. Driver stays. He retires a packer. PERIOD.
</blockquote>
How do you know? How can you be sure that a snap where Driver drops the ball in a playoff game that could've been into a big game by a rising young stud wouldn't cost us a SB? There's no way you can know that. And Driver has one of the crappiest drop rates of any receiver of the last three years, and now he doesn't have the athleticism to justify squat. I think we need to move on, the Steelers did it with Hines Ward, who was a better player when he retired and a better player throughout his career.

I still don't see how Jones fits in the picture. He's prone to drops, and doesn't stand out among anyone in the group. If he was going to step up it would have happened by now. Driver can still be counted on to come up with a play when they need it. Talking about which WR to fill up the 5 or 6 spots is a nice problem to have though...

in all likelihood there are 6 spots you figure 5 are filled barring an injury they either have to trade someone or do something crazy and carry 7 wr on the roster. I actually would not be surprised to see them carry 7 they have a spot open with quarless starting the year on the pup list and you know guys will get inactivated and ired throughout the year.

Gurley is also useful on ST as a kick blocking phenom... He'll definitely be on the roster. MM said in a couple interviews he's looking for guys who can play and help on ST. Not a secret Gurley fits that.
