Well, we knew this day was coming and it’s really no surprise it happened now — the Green Bay Packers and receiver Donald Driver have agreed to a restructured contract.
The deal, which likely contains a considerable pay cut, is aimed at keeping Driver with the Packers for the remainder of his career. Terms have not been released, although Driver said he expects to play another year or two before retiring.
Driver was set to have a salary cap number of $5 million in 2012 under his old deal. He’ll likely get less than half that with his new deal.
The 37-year-old is the Packers all-time leading receiver, but had only 37 catches in 2011. He’ll likely be the Packers fifth receiver this season if he makes the team.
