iltarian….Speaking like he’s running the Packers again…..Bottom line this. They love Gurley, Gurley had a chance to get on a team, the Packers gave him more money to stay. Gurley will be in camp and make the team, taking Drivers spot. People….We love our veteran Packer players like Clifton, Woodson, DD. But Driver is 37 at talent deep position. I think DD is as good as gone. I thought TT would cut him last year, but i think he kept him out of respect. And dont forget about Woodson….Woodson is due to make 10.5 million, 4 mill bonus…6.5 salary. 1/12th of the teams salary cap…Thats a lot of lettuce. Sometimes folks, You have to “turn the page”. Father time is undefeated. All 3 will be gone imo.

Let’s bottom-line this here.

Packers’ brass can’t commit because DD hasn’t agreed to trim his salary yet.

Money is the only reason to let DD go.

If TT or MM guarantee DD will be in camp, then that hardly gives the org leverage to redo that contract.

Sorry to say this but after dancing is done – driver will be done – they will not let a younger guy lose his spot – but thanks for the memories

Packmule, I seem to recall that the issue was that our receivers couldn’t catch anything, not even a cold, in that playoff game, not that they couldn’t get open.

I like what DD brings to the table in terms of veteran wisdom and leadership. Youth is great but the young need someone to look up to, otherwise you wind up with a team of punks like the Lions. Gurley is gonna be, at best, our #5 guy anyway. This team has so much talent it’s causing problems.

I love Donald Driver, but football teams need to stay young. The only way I can see the Packers keeping him one more year is if they consider him vastly superior to all of the younger receivers. If Gurley is even in the same ballpark skill-wise, even if Driver is slightly better you have to go with youth or you are sacrificing your bright future for nostalgia. Ted Thompson would never do that.

go back and watch that miserable playoff game last year…

The only reason Donald Driver was getting open was because the opposing defense thought so highly of his skills that they had -a LINEBACKER- covering him the entire game.

A. Line. Backer.

Not a corner, not even a safety.

I love DD as much as the next packer fan, he’s an all-time Packer great, Packer HOF for sure.. His time is in the past, the young, talented men waiting in the wings are the future.

Didn’t take anything away from JJ by saying “Donald Driver is as deserving as James Jones to be given a shot to earn a spot on the the 53.” I merely said D-Drive deserves a shot to make the roster.

JJ has had at least 17 dropped passes in the last 2 seasons. I still think he deserves a shot at making the roster. Where’s the non-committal talk about him?

Was that Donald Driver streaking across the middle to put us ahead for good against the Falcons? Oh, wait, that was James Jones.

Was that Donald Driver streaking across the field to put us up 21-0 against the Lions and basically break the game open? Oh, wait, that was James Jones.

I would like to see DD back, but I have my doubts about his ability to make this roster.

And give JJ some damn credit. Dude has made a ton of big plays for this team.
