Packers Will Bring In Jeff Saturday
The Green Bay Packers have actually scheduled a free agent visit.
After losing center Scott Wells on Friday, the team has decided to bring in Jeff Saturday.
Saturday is 36 and has spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts. He’s a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All Pro. Despite his age, he’s also proven to be durable, starting all 16 games each of the past three seasons.
The Packers will have competition for his services though. Tennessee and Denver, which just signed Peyton Manning, are also reportedly interested. The Broncos seem to have the edge because of Manning.
Even if the Packers do sign Saturday, he isn’t a long-term solution because of his age. The team can probably expect two good seasons from him and will have to develop a young player with or without Saturday.

Please sign him… He’s not the best option in the world but would rather have him in the lineup instead of scrambling to find a replacement during preseason.

I’ve got it!! Here is what to do: release Clifton, restructure Driver, sign wimbley, sign saturday, and draft C Konz from Wisconsin. It’s so simple.

hopefully drafting konz to play guard; don’t see him as a zone scheme center. I’d rather have the dude out of UGA (ben jones?) to play the position in our system. Not that I would be averse to giving konz a shot at center. I would rather sign wimbley, sign saturday, then draft the best 3-4 pass rusher/5technique end available; then grab the UGA center.

As I predicted… Saturday would be an excellent stop gap for a couple years while a draft pick gets ready.
How much could Denver afford to pay him? I didn’t think they could afford the contract they just handed Manning. So, their cap space has to be getting tight.
The fact that we haven’t released Clifton or restructured Driver yet tells me that the Packers will not pursue Wimbley or any other costly FA.

Fack! Fack!!! Ok, heres the plan…1st round draft pick = Trade-up for rush-end Melvin Ingram from South Carolina…2nd Round draft a Center…3rd round a DB that will only play on special teams…Fack! Fack!!!

The packers need to sign Jeff Saturday to a lucrative 3 year deal. To keep him from signing with Denver or Titans. And draft a decent late round draft pick center. And use him to develop the center over the next 2-3 years.

I’d guess the Broncos would make room for Saturday’s salary by trading Tebow. If I remember correctly he was a first-round pick under the old CBA, which would make him very expensive for a backup. It’s possible they’ll keep him, of course, but I’d say that the price, the circus that comes with him, and the opportunity to trade him leads the Broncos to make a move.
On a side note, wouldn’t it be amusing If Alex Smith resigns with SF and then Miami swings and misses on Tebow? I’d feel more sorry for Philbin than I already do, but losing out on four QBs in the same offseason would be pretty funny.

They will give him a 1yr offer, he will decline. Besides who needs him, they re-signed Jarret Bush. Christ I will sleep better now that his domiinating ability is secured for another 3 yrs. TT’s free-agency prowess continues. Now if they can only re-sign Walden the offseason will be complete.

I don’t buy signing an old man to play center as well as drafting one first round. I think EDS could compete for the job and get some lineman late in the draft.

TT needs to get Saturday signed. Restructure Driver and Rodgers contracts to free up cap. Sign Benson or Hightower and stop these goofy ideas of bringing Grant back. Make trade with Jets for QB Stranton. Trade up for CB claiborne. Championship!!!!!!
