The Green Bay Packers will be without their first-round draft choice for the remainder of the season, which could further complicate the situation along their beat-up offensive line.
Derek Sherrod broke his leg in Sunday’s loss to Kansas City while filling in at right tackle for Bryan Bulaga, who was injured earlier in the game.
“He was screaming a little bit so I was just trying to get the medical guys,” left tackle Marshall Newhouse said. “You never want to see that happen but it’s part of it. Guys go down every day. I’m praying for him absolutely.”
Bulaga sprained the same knee he hurt earlier in the season. With both players out, T.J. Lang moved to right tackle and Evan Dietrich-Smith took over at left guard.
Dietrich-Smith in particular was a weak link. The Chiefs sacked Aaron Rodgers four times on Sunday and the Packers may have to adjust their game plan to keep him upright the final two weeks of the season while their offensive line heals.
